Oh, that's a good one (may he rest in peace)! I had been toying with "I want to know what fudge is" and "What's fudge got to do with it?" (and many more that I will generously share at the bottom of this blog, you're welcome!), but that one swiftly ended my dithering.

So, I'm finally coming out of hibernation (had to lay low for health reasons!) to discover that joy of joys... February is here! And what does that mean besides ludicrously expensive 'half-term' holidays? Yes, that's right... it's nearly Valentine's Day! HOORAH! Also... Spring is coming! The snowdrops and crocuses are out and, with the sun shining on Tulse Hill today, I didn't even need thermals on inside. Things are looking up!

Now that it's been over a month since Christmas, Valentine's Day is the PERFECT excuse to indulge all over again by sending ourselves (and loved ones, I suppose) copious amounts of chocolate to see us through the last days of winter and maybe even up to Easter.

I am therefore delighted to say that the planned engineering works that kept The Cornucopia Carriage off the road in January are nearly over, and come Valentine's weekend I will be saddling up to deliver delectable edibles and Afternoon Teas again. I may even have got a nifty new saddle from Santa (he must have spotted the rip in mine at the Gipsy Hill Christmas Fair!)...

Orders are now open for deliveries in The Cornucopia Carriage:

10th Feb - to SW2, SW4, SW9, SW12

11th Feb - to SE5, SE15, SE24

12th Feb - Afternoon Tea parties to the above postcodes (limited availability!)

14th Feb - Special Valentine's Day offer: Afternoon Tea for Two (or three!) with crockery hire thrown in (carefully)

And... You can order Letterbox Fudge or Rocky Road at anytime for delivery across the rest of the UK! Just specify that it is for Valentine's Day at checkout (if desired) and I'll hold fire until then.

Now all that remains is for me to thank you, wish you a very belated Happy New Year, a slightly early Happy Valentine's Day, and share a few of the fudge songs that didn't make it onto the headline...

Fudge Is All Around (just what I sing on baking day)

Fudge is in the Air

The Power of Fudge

Fudge Machine (my nickname on baking day)

Crazy Little Thing Called Fudge

Fudge Shack (my next business name)

Oh I could go on but it's late and I must post this just as everyone goes to bed and can't read it! I am doing excellent marketing.

Goodnight, sweet 'Earl Grey Truffle' heart...

Wait... Is that a potential new item for the menu I see? Share your thoughts please!

Yes indeed! Unbeknownst to anyone but me, I published my website as planned at 12.02 on 11th of the 11th 2021! And my word, what a monumental moment it was... For the first time since it was an unused and overgrown gardening website, www.thecornucopia.co.uk returned to the world wide web!

Naturally, no one need ever know that upon launching, the welcome section still held the Wix template message, there were no terms and conditions, two items were missing from my product page, and no products were in stock. In fact, as I write this, those last two remain the case, and quite frankly I still have no idea whether online purchases will actually work! On top of all this, my kitchen window was under attack from ladybirds that swarm at this time of year, and my cargo bike box was sat in pieces, waiting for me to correct the abysmal spray painting job I did on the logo.

On the plus side, I have confirmed that I can take payments in-person by accidentally buying myself 4 slices of Rocky Road (fortunately my favourite!) at 3,49am this morning while I was fiddling around with the Square reader right next to my unsuspecting contactless card. With a triumphant beep, it was done. I've now refunded myself (no blooming rocky road in stock anyway!) and paid the admin fee for the privilege. Another lesson learned.

So, that's a tiny update on the here and now... I could waffle on but apparently there's a lot more to this website malarkey than I realised and tonight I am due to celebrate its maiden voyage across the ether with drinks at an already very successful branch of cocktail bars!

But for now, here's a picture of some champagne I was once given for returning two lost iPhones to their (clearly very grateful/wealthy) rightful owner!

Those were the days!
